Philippe d'Aram (composer)

Since the late 1970s, French film composer Philippe d’Aram has provided music for short and feature films, television series and documentaries, radio and multimedia formats. As for the otherworldly theme to Spectral Haunts and Phantom Lovers, he most certainly achieved the goal of creating, in his own words, "a somber atmosphere with hope." While d'Aram has scored the works of such directors as André Cayatte, François Dupeyron and Claude Zidi, he is perhaps best known internationally for collaborations with European cult directors. These include Walerian Borowczyk for Les héroïnes du mal and Jean Rollin for whom he scored several films, including Fascination and La morte vivante. Among numerous events, d’Aram composed the official music for the 1992 XVI Olympic Winter Games at Albertville. In addition to organizing conferences to raise awareness of the importance of music in the cinema, d’Aram has taught film scoring at such institutions as L’université Paris-Est Marne-la-Vallée, EFET (Paris), and Institut national de l'audiovisuel (Bry-sur-Marne). Commercial clients include Nina Ricci, Pernod-Ricard, IBM, Kodak and Dassault.
